CAAF provides resources to legislative oversight committees (such as public accounts committees and municipal audit committees) through our capacity development program. We help committees understand the importance of performance audits and improve the effectiveness of their committees by providing them with workshops and resources they need to make an impact and improve the delivery of public services. Our current funding model is based on membership dues from the audit community and although some of this funding has been allocated to support our work with oversight committees, we are searching for a stable long-term funding source.

We therefore submitted a request to the federal government for 1 million dollars annually to support CAAF’s oversight program. You can read our pre-budget submission here. Since 2021, we have been meeting with Members of Parliament, current and former Public Accounts Committee members, and senior government officials to brief them on our situation and our ask.
