Perspectives of the President and CEO: My First 90 Days

On March 10, I’ll mark my first 90 days as President and CEO of the CAAF.

When I took on the role of President and CEO on December 10, I knew that I was joining an organization that was steeped in a rich history of performance audit, accountability and governance in Canada and internationally. It did not take long for me to appreciate the impact of our work.

I have had the opportunity to meet with the Auditors General of Canada and the provinces, as well as with members of the Government of Canada’s Public Accounts Committee. I have also had the opportunity to meet with auditors general from municipalities and members of the federal government internal audit community.

I was fortunate to be here when the CAAF welcomed international Fellows from Fiji, Maldives, Nepal, Thailand, and Vanuatu and two auditors from South Korea. I watched their enthusiasm as they took part in the training and activities organized so thoughtfully by the CAAF team—including attending Question Period—and their amazement at discovering Ottawa’s winter… especially at –30 degrees!

I am proud to work alongside an exceptional and dedicated team and have the support from our passionate and talented Board members. I am also grateful for the work of our talented teaching associates, who are so committed to engaging participants in our interactive training.

In my role, I want to ensure that we continue to support all of you in delivering and using impactful audits to support accountability and good governance. I also recognize that the world around us—and the context in which we operate—has changed dramatically over the past decade, even the past five year. As an organization, we are listening, engaging, and adapting. We are developing a stra

tegy that will continue to promote and strengthen public sector audit, oversight, and accountability in Canada and abroad. Stay tuned for more.

The message I want to send to all of you: Thank you for your continued support, your dedication, and your passion for the CAAF. I look forward to an exciting future, and I’m grateful to be on this journey with you.
