Course Objectives
The United Nations Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were launched in 2015 to improve the world from a social, economic and environmental perspective. Governments around the world committed to work towards the achievement of these goals. Find out how you can audit readiness to work towards these goals, and progress towards their achievement.
Who Should Participate
All auditors involved or interested in Sustainable Development Goals should take this course. Performance auditors at all levels can use the sustainable development goals and related targets and indicators as audit criteria. Financial and compliance auditors should be aware of these goals and can use them as their entry into undertaking performance audits.
Format
This course is delivered over 2-3 days, either virtually or in-person. The course includes a mix of instructor-led content, interactive exercises, and break-out sessions.
Course Outline
Day 1 | 7 hours
- The 17 SDGs and their importance
- SDG targets and indicators
- The SDGs and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) considerations
- What is an SDG-focused performance audit?
- National approaches to achieving the SDGs – national targets and indicators, policies and frameworks, roles and responsibilities, data sources
Day 2 | 7 hours
- SDG preparedness audits
- Monitoring and measurement frameworks
- Progress to date, Voluntary National Reviews & COVID-19 impacts
- Performance audits carried out on progress on SDGs – success stories and lessons learned
- Integrating the SDGs into audit plans
