Originally, President of the Federal Liberal Association of Brossard – La Prairie, Alexandra began her political career as a riding assistant to the Hon. Jacques Saada. From 2008 to 2011, she was the Member of Parliament for Brossard – La Prairie. During that time, her actions in the House of Commons were a testament to her continued dedication to her constituents, by strongly advocating on such issues as the replacement of Champlain Bridge and obtaining Passport services at the Service Canada centre in Brossard. Following the 2011 election, Alexandra continued her engagement by serving as the President of the Quebec branch of the Liberal Party of Canada from 2012-2014. In October 2015, Alexandra Mendès was once again elected, this time as the Member of Parliament for the newly-established riding of Brossard – Saint-Lambert. In Parliament, she is Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts, Canada’s representative at the International Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Co-chair of the Canada-Portugal Friendship Group, Chair of the Canada – Moldova Parliamentary Friendship Group and Co-chair of the Liberal Caucus on Animal Welfare. |
