Course Objectives
Interviewing is a key evidence-gathering approach for auditors. While sometimes vilified as the weakest form of evidence, good interviews can lead you to key documentary evidence that you may otherwise miss. Learn how to interview more effectively to get the information you need.
Who Should Participate
Auditors at all levels who conduct interviews as part of their work – both entry level auditors and experienced auditors looking to refine their interviewing techniques.
Format
This course is delivered over 2-3 days, either virtually or in-person. The course includes a mix of instructor-led content, interactive exercises, and break-out sessions.
Course Outline
Day 1 | 7 hours
- Human connection: Rapport, trust, understanding perspective, and active listening
- Improved processes 1: Note taking
- Improved processes 2: Logistics
Day 2 | 7 hours
- Specific strategy 1: Detection, deception and unspoken concerns
- Specific strategy 2: Persuasion techniques
- Specific strategy 3: Questioning strategies
- Specific strategy 4: Asking tough questions and delivering bad news
