Chantale Audet
Chantale Audet is a consultant, trainer, and plain language writing specialist. She is the co-founder of Autrement dit, a consultancy firm specializing in plain language rewriting. Plain language is an internationally recognized writing approach, supported by the ISO 24495-1 standard.
Her training in anthropology makes her a specialist in human beings, their needs, and the way they interact with their environment. Because communication is central to human life, she has developed an expertise in understanding the needs of target audiences for written productions.
The consulting services offered by her company aim to train and coach teams in a variety of fields to make their written communications accessible so that they can be understood on first reading by audiences of varying literacy levels. This coaching goes beyond teaching writing techniques and enables teams to adopt the plain language approach.
Plain language aims to increase the accessibility of information and democratize access to information for all audiences. It is also a tool for achieving sustainable development goals.
Before founding Autrement dit, Chantale worked for fifteen years in public health. Her expertise in qualitative methods led her to collaborate on several projects. For 10 years, she was also the editor-in-chief of the guide From Tiny Tot to Toddler. This baby guide is published in French and in English and is distributed to all parents-to-be in the province of Quebec. Among other contributions to the guide, she coordinated the addition of two new sections on pregnancy and childbirth.
Moreover, Chantale has participated in various international projects in countries such as Brazil, Malawi and Thailand.
