Michèle Galipeau served as Auditor General of the City of Montréal from 2016 to 2023. As Auditor General, she carried out her duties in an independent, impartial, and objective manner, and reported directly to city council. Under her leadership a major strategic plan has been deployed and all practices have been optimized. Audit objectives in sustainable development, information technology and cybersecurity were also set.

Ms. Galipeau also served as Auditor General for the city of Laval from 2012 to 2016.From 1988 to 2011, she worked in various large companies in the financial sector, including more than fifteen years in management positions. She has served as director of budgets and systems, management comptroller and assistant vice-president - internal audit for more than a decade.

Previously, Ms. Galipeau worked in financial audit at Price Waterhouse Coopers and also taught at the l’École des hautes études commerciales de Montréal (HEC Montréal) for a few years.

Having her profession at heart, Ms. Galipeau exerts her influence and did not hesitate to defend the interests of her peers, particularly during the review of bills having a significant impact on their profession and in various councils. Ms Galipeau has been a member of the Public Sector Accounting Board(PSAB) of CPA Canada (2020-2023) and of l’Association des vérificateurs généraux municipaux du Québec (AVGMQ) (2012-2023).

Ms. Galipeau is a chartered professional accountant and holds a Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) from the École des hautes études commerciales de Montréal (HEC Montréal). Ms Galipeau was awarded in 2022 the title of Fellow from l’Ordre des CPA du Québec.
